I heard about this book through a friend who saw the movie. I like to read the books first. So that's what I did. It was a short read, but it kept me intrigued so I barely put it down. The ending is different, so even if you've seen the movie, give it a read. I almost want to say I liked the movie better. Almost. Books are always better, but this a rare instance where I think the movie rivals the book. Good read though.

It takes time to realize the scene - but it can hold you in tension - and it’s a thriller. Not for everyone..
Wasn't expecting the crazy twists that came with this book! Kind of seems like a weird back and forth until the end and you realize what's going on. Great read!
Brilliant novel. Still hoping for a definitive transition to film, but cleverly & visually crafted to where one can be immersed into this strange, erotic, and tragic world.
Well thought out and structured. Instead of prison maybe we should look at this as an alternative for rapist. After reading watch the movie a little different but yeah great read.
I saw the Almodóvar movie "The Skin I Live In" a few years ago and it made me want to read this story. I usually agree that the book is better than the movie, but not in this case. The story is good, Pedro Almodóvar made it into an unforgettable movie.
First let me say this was an interesting read. The problem was the length. For eight dollars I would have expected a full novel...I will always check number of pages from now on. I feel like I have been ripped off.
This is one of the few books, where the movie version bested it. The book is rather brief and has a rather uninspired ending. It also appears to border on an S&M relationship, in a rather unflattering manner. Almodóvar The Skin I Live in, has a lot more depth to the characters and creates a more dynamic story by changing some of the plot elements.
