J. N. Darby's purpose was, as he states in the preface to his English NT, to make a modern translation for the unlearned who have neither access to manuscript texts nor training and knowledge of ancient languages of the Scriptures. He was the principal scholar for a number of translations – and not the sole translator of any one of the various translations that bear his name. He worked with various brethren who had academic and spiritual qualifications. He also acknowledges dependence on the critical work of Samuel Prideaux Tregelles and various other scholars. Darby's translation work was not intended to be read aloud. His work was for study and private use. In his own oral ministry he generally used the English KJV.

It's the best translation out there for sure. A lot of Christians don't know of J.N. Darby but he is worth looking into. He has done a lot of writing and will be a big help to any who take a look. The format is not the best therefore four stars. There are better ebooks out there to compare. Stay with the Darby translation though, no matter what ebook you buy.Product details

I find it very hard to navigate this (and another kindle Bible version I ordered). A better system is needed to quickly get to the part of a book you need. Flipping thru the few short chapters of Galatians isn't too bad, but a very long book, Psalms, for instance, can be torture. I have a kindle version of an America's Test Kitchen cookbook that was made to easily maneuver & would recommend the format to the publisher.
good translation, good format, good price
This is quite accurate a translation. It is not as readable as some other translations, but it is very helpful as a reference Bible.
A superb translation, which made its mark in the progress of Bible translation. I've always been disappointed that I have not been able to get a paper copy, but this is a brilliant alternative.
